Les Notes d’un voyageur
The music is jazz, world music, classical, Arab-Andalusian, and South American.
Maurice Merizen’s various percussion instruments (darbuka, cajon, pandero, daf, etc.) were chosen to give meaning to the journey offered by this ensemble. Using his feet and hands, he creates beautiful combinations of sounds that connect us to the Earth’s heritage.
Prosper Sibertin-Blanc, a classically trained cellist, provides the depth and virtuosity necessary to serve the themes and arrangements.
William Brunard’s virtuoso skill on the double bass (bassist for Biréli Lagrène) also creates an important link between composition and improvisation.
Franck Monbaylet on piano, the happy captain of this fine ensemble, combines subtlety and power, always free in his rhythmic and harmonic expression to color his playing with all his classical, jazz, and world music influences.
The joy of playing together is there; it can be felt, seen, and heard. Immediate boarding for a world tour of sensations.
